What FMI Believes

The Scriptures

The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and the sole authority for faith and conduct.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21.

The Godhead

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; yet singular in essence and equal in every divine perfection.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:13-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14.

Jesus Christ

Jesus is God the Son manifest in flesh, born of a virgin, sinless, and with authority to perform miracles.

We affirm his vicarious and atoning death, his bodily resurrection, ascension, his present mediatorial work, and his future return in power and glory.

Matthew 1:18-20; John 1:1-2,14; Acts 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:21-26; Hebrews 7:25-28.

The Holy Spirit

He restrains evil in the world to the measure of divine will, convicts the world regarding sin, regenerates sinners as adopted heirs into the family of God. He indwells, guides, empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.

John 1:31, 3:6 and 16:17-11; Acts 1:4-5; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:30 and 5:18; 2 Thessalonians 2:7; Titus 3:5.

Salvation

God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In our union with Adam, all humans are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through God’s grace as demonstrated via Jesus Christ’s shed blood can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed. An individual’s salvation is expressed through immediate justification, on-going sanctification, and eventual glorification.

Genesis 1:26-27 & 3:1-24; John 1:12 & 3:5-7 & 10:27-30; Romans 5:12-21 & 8:31-39; Ephesians 2:1-9.

The Church

There are two expressions of the Church: 1) the universal Church, which is the complete spiritual body of Christ, consisting of all born-again believers of all places and times; 2) the local church consists of regenerated Christians who assemble for the purpose of fellowship, worship, teaching, service, proclaiming the Word of God. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances for the Church – baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel.

Matthew 16:16-18 & 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47 & 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32 & 12:12-17; 1 Timothy 3:15-16; 1 Peter 3:21.

The Great Commission

Jesus Christ has commissioned his followers to radiate the gospel to the entire world, and that evangelism and church planting should be primary in the program of the local church.

Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8.

Last Things

We believe in the imminent rapture of the church and the personal, bodily and pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ. We believe that God will utterly defeat Satan in Satan’s final rebellion, and Satan will be doomed to the lake of fire. God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth.

Ezekiel 39:25-29; Matthew 24:21; John 14:3; Romans 14:10-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 19:11-16 & 21:1-15.
